The idea behind this project is that bras are a highly sexualized, glamorized piece of feminine clothing. However, if you wear one everyday, you have a much more prosaic relationship with bras. They are functional first and foremost.

The bras in this project belong to family and friends. When I ask to borrow a bra for this project, the only guideline I give is that the bra be one the lender has a specific feeling about. It doesn’t matter to me what the feeling is: if it makes the wearer feel sexy, if it’s one she wears every day, or if she hates it, I request only that she has a relationship with the bra she lends me to paint.
