Animals

Orcas in my work are often only fins. These pieces are the most abstract of my work so far. They are life-sized drawings that I think of most truly as figures akin to letters. They represent a mysterious unknown that I have known my whole life. I grew up on Puget Sound and have always loved Orcas. They are so intelligent and so endangered by humans. They are ferocity, and blood and teeth. They are elegant and otherworldly.

Horses in my work are about flesh, pain, and a majestic embodiment. They are like humans and unlike humans. We have a loving and abusive relationship with horses as they are both beasts of burden and beautiful, dancer-like beings.
